Thanksgiving

In my house, Thanksgiving means that I am working on the devil of a history paper, my little brother is downstairs nursing the wounds where his wisdom teeth used to be and playing Assassin's Creed 3, my mom is watching Tomb Raider, and Dad is cooking the turkey outside in a gigantic oil-less turkey fryer. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Growing up

Today, I found a kiddie tent in my basement that my parents must have bought for me when I was a kid. Funny, because I have no memories of playing in it! So, I did what any sane person would do and promptly set it up in my room. It's not that big, but neither is my room. It is red and blue and yellow, with a black and white striped roof. I can fit in it comfortably and may sleep in there tonight. (Shh, don't tell my parents!)
I got to thinking, and I realized that in less than a amonth, I would be sitting in my dorm room with a complete stranger. (The only thing about my life that wouldn't change was the size of the room--my future dorm is teeny.) Like most kids my age, I'm sad to see my childhood go, and I miss my family and friends already.

I'm happy for the opportunity to get a good education and branch out from my previously tiny social circle, but for now I'm absolutely, paralyzingly terrified of the future. So! Instead of actually doing something about it, I will sit in my multicolored tent and read my Harry Potter books until dinnertime.
